Rural Connections Project

The County of Middlesex was among 15 successful Municipalities chosen by the Province of Ontario to move forward with plans to build local broadband infrastructure  using their Rural Connections Broadband Program.  In 2010 Bell-Alliant partnered with the Province to provide wireless broadband internet access to residents.

The Province contributed $1 million dollars while Bell-Alliant contributed $2.4 million to help get this project off the ground.

In November 2014, Bell sent out a letter to residents that are currently using this wireless service to let them know that on March 31, 2015 this service will end.

Bell is offering customers a cellular based service as a replacement for this aging wireless infrastructure.
