Middlesex-London Paramedic Service presents 2023 Annual Performance Report

Middlesex-London Paramedic Service (MLPS) presented the 2023 MLPS Annual Performance Report, highlighting a year marked by significant achievements and continuous progress. The report offers a comprehensive overview of the Service's operations, including detailed statistics on ambulance calls, response times, offload delays, and the implementation of the response time plan. In addition to these key metrics, the report showcases the impact of various innovative programs and initiatives, such as Community Paramedicine, which extends care into homes and communities, and the Early Intervention and Clinical Support program, which focuses on enhancing patient outcomes through timely care. These initiatives reflect MLPS's dedication to improving service delivery and meeting the evolving needs of the Middlesex and London community. County Council approves Central Emergency Reporting Bureau Agreement with Strathroy-Caradoc Police Services

County Council has approved a new agreement with Strathroy-Caradoc Police Services to take over 911 emergency call answering services. This decision comes after London Police Services, the previous provider, informed the County that they could no longer support agencies outside the City of London. Following a thorough evaluation, County staff concluded that Strathroy-Caradoc Police Services, with their decade-long experience in fire dispatch for the County, are well-prepared to manage this critical service. With Council’s approval, staff were authorized to finalize and sign all necessary agreements with Strathroy-Caradoc Police Services, ensuring a seamless transition of this essential service for Middlesex County residents. Waterloo St. Ambulance Station Renovations to move ahead

County Council has approved a recommendation to proceed with Phase 1 renovations at the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service (MLPS) Station located at 340 Waterloo Street in London. This phase will address essential updates to the station's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as renovations to the upper floor, which will be used by Community Paramedicine. After a competitive bidding process, Traditional Construction Inc. was selected to complete the work. Council Awards Tender for Glendon Drive Roundabout

County Council approved a recommendation to award the Glendon Dr. Roundabout Tender to ghn Infrastructure Inc., totaling $5,053,080.30, before taxes. The project includes the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection Glendon Drive and Jefferies Road, various road improvements, and the new Coldstream Road alignment. Construction is scheduled to commence by September 3, 2024, with completion targeted by August 1, 2025.

Renewal of Middlesex Accommodation Program Contract

The Committee of the Whole received a funding update on the Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) and approved the renewal of the Middlesex Accommodation Program. Hundreds of individuals and families in Middlesex County have accessed funding through the Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) for housing and homelessness supports. HPP is a provincially-funded program created to support individuals and families with housing and support services who are at risk of, or experiencing homelessness. Within the HPP Guidelines, Middlesex County Social Services is focusing on Emergency Shelter Solutions, Community Outreach and Support Services, Housing Assistance and Supporting Housing. In collaboration with the Countryside Motel, Middlesex Canadian Mental Health Association Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services (CMHA TVAMHS), Middlesex Community Navigator and Middlesex Social Services, the Middlesex Accommodation Program provides temporary shelter and community supports to individuals when there are no other solutions available.  Funding will be provided for the costs of the motel program and wages for staff members until March 31, 2025. Middlesex County Early Childhood Education Bursary

The Committee of the Whole approved an Agreement between the County of Middlesex and Fanshawe College for the continuation of the Middlesex County Early Childhood Education Bursary for individuals applying to the Early Childhood Education program at Fanshawe College. This initiative is part of the broader Early Childhood Workforce Funding Agreement, signed by Canada and Ontario in August 2021, which allocates funding to enhance the recruitment and retention of a high-quality child care and early years workforce. The bursary, offers financial support to students who demonstrate financial need, maintain good academic standing, and reside in Middlesex County.
