Middlesex County Public Works Association’s Generosity Shines: $38,500 Donation Empowers Local Charities 

MIDDLESEX COUNTY on December 12, 2023: During the December 12 Council meeting, delegates from the Middlesex County Public Works Association presented a substantial donation of $38,500 to various local charities within the County. The funds were generated from the proceeds of the 2023 Annual Public Works Trade Show.

The Middlesex County Public Works Association represents public works employees across Middlesex County and the City of London. On June 7-8, Middlesex County Public Works Association, as part of the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS), hosted the 2023 AORS tradeshow at the Gemini Sportsplex in Strathroy. With the help of Middlesex County, AORS, Strathroy-Caradoc, Adelaide Metcalfe, North Middlesex, Thames Centre, Middlesex Centre, Lucan Biddulph, Southwest Middlesex, City of London, Chippewas of the Thames, Oneida Nation of the Thames, Driven Engineering, Cedar Signs, Colvoy Equipement,  CT Enviromental and Mobil Services, 240 vendors and 2000 Visitors attended the show. The show was able to raise $38,500 for local Charities.

Jarett Hoglund, General Superintendent with Middlesex County and Chair, along with Warden Aina DeViet presented the donation cheques to the respective organizations underscoring the commitment to community well-being.

The beneficiaries include:

Middlesex Hospital Alliance ($9,500) - received by Tara

Toys for Tots ($9,500) – received by Rebekah Gilliland

Glencoe Society of Saint Vincent Food Bank ($2,500) – received by Kristina Glasgow

Strathroy Salvation Army Food Bank ($2,500) – received by Sharon

Ailsa Craig Food Bank ($2,500) – received by Mark Isaac

Community Over Cancer ($9,500) - (not in attendance)  

Dorchester Food Bank ($2,500) - (not in attendance)

Hoglund expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and the community for their support, emphasizing the success of the 2023 AORS Annual Public Works Trade Show. "Congratulations to the Middlesex County Public Works Association for a successful trade show and thank you to all of our sponsors who played a vital role in this achievement." This act of generosity highlights the vital role that public works organizations play not only in building and maintaining infrastructure but also in actively contributing to the communities they serve.
