Plover Mills Bridge repairs over the Thames River Submission.

The County of Middlesex has added a submission to the Navigable Waters Registry pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for public comment as described herein.

In accordance with requirements of the Canadian Navigable Waters Act, the County of Middlesex hereby gives notice that an application has been submitted to the Minister of Transport for the below work(s):

Registry number: 14218

Navigation Protection Program file number: 2026-416274

Project description:

• The County of Middlesex plans to complete repairs to the Plover Mills Road bridge including expansion joint replacements; localized concrete repairs to the piers, deck soffit, deck fascia, curbs, and precast girders; grading repairs to the abutment foreslopes; and milling and paving the bridge deck and approaches.

• The work will be contained to the bridge itself; no in-water work, cofferdams, or alteration of the riverbanks are planned.

• No permanent changes to the navigational clearance under the bridge are planned.

• No impacts to navigation are expected during construction. Temporary platforms will be required above the waterway, but the depth of these platforms is not expected to exceed 2 metres (m) below the existing bridge soffit, thereby maintaining a vertical clearance of approximately 7.27 m under the bridge. No impacts to the available horizontal clearance are planned.

Worksite location:

The Plover Mills Road bridge crosses the Thames River in the Municipality of Thames Centre, Ontario. As shown on the map below, the bridge is located on Plover Mills Road (County Road 16), approximately 793 m west of Nissouri Road (County Road 27).
