The Commission has proposed that Middlesex County be divided into four ridings. County Council approved a recommendation directing staff to submit a Public Hearing Participation Form to the Ontario Commission, which will enable the Warden to make representations regarding the impact of the proposed redistribution on residents of Middlesex County at the public hearing being held on October 28, 2022 in London. For more information, see the Proposal of the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for the Province of Ontario.

Flooring Replacement Tender at Strathmere Lodge Awarded

Council approved a recommendation to award Strathmere Lodge’s Flooring Replacement Tender project to Adias Impex Ltd. The Lodge has entered the final phase of its multi-year capital plan to replace the flooring in its resident home areas. This project replaces worn carpeting in the Lodge’s Arbour Glen resident home area that is now 16 years old, ensuring that Lodge facilities remain current and conducive to the provision of quality care and service for Lodge residents and families.

New County Highway By-Law under review

The Committee of the Whole approved a recommendation to consolidate select County highway by-laws into a single new by-law. Under the authority of the Municipal Act, Municipalities across Ontario have the power to regulate activities along public highways under their jurisdiction, including the issuance or work, entrance, overload and sales permits. The County of Middlesex currently regulates these activities under a number of separate by-laws. The recommended by-law will be considered by County Council at its September 27, 2022 meeting.
