Middlesex County Warden’s Statement on Canada Day

MIDDLESEX COUNTY: On June 25, 2024, Warden Aina DeViet issued the following statement regarding Canada Day.

On behalf of Middlesex County Council and as your Warden, I would like to wish you all a happy Canada Day. As we come together to celebrate, it is a time to reflect on our shared history, cultural diversity, and the values that unite us. Middlesex County is built on lands traditionally inhabited by the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Lūnaapéewak peoples. We honour their enduring contributions and the deep cultural heritage that enriches our community.

Our county is known for its strong sense of community, beautiful landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. Canada Day offers a moment to celebrate our collective achievements and the freedoms we enjoy. It's also a time to acknowledge our responsibilities in fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all. Let us appreciate the progress we have made and commit to continuing our efforts toward reconciliation and understanding.

This Canada Day, I encourage everyone to partake in the local festivities, which showcase the best of what Middlesex County has to offer. Whether attending events, exploring our natural scenery, or connecting with friends and family, let's celebrate safely and responsibly.

Wishing you all a joyous and memorable Canada Day!
