FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Middlesex County announces 911 Services Transition to Strathroy-Caradoc Police effective September 10, 2024

Middlesex County, ON – Middlesex County is announcing an upcoming change in the administrative operations of its 911 Primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Effective Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service (SCPS) will assume responsibility as the Primary PSAP and Central Emergency Reporting Bureau (CERB) for all municipalities within Middlesex County.

Despite this administrative change, the 911 process that residents are familiar with remains unchanged. In the event of an emergency, members of the public should continue to dial 911 as they always have. Emergency calls will be seamlessly directed to the appropriate response teams, ensuring that the same high standard of emergency response is maintained.

This transition brings the significant benefit of having CERB operations localized within Middlesex County. With SCPS based in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, emergency call responses can be handled with enhanced local knowledge and efficiency.

SCPS has a longstanding history of serving the community, having provided professional dispatch services for all County of Middlesex Municipal Fire Departments for over 10 years. Their experience, coupled with ongoing collaborations with Middlesex County's Planning and GIS departments, positions them well to take on this expanded role.

Middlesex County extends its gratitude to the London Police Service for their decades of dedicated service and looks forward to a smooth transition that continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community.
