Council support for nomination to the AMO Board of Directors

Council passed a resolution to support the nomination of Middlesex County Councillor Aina DeViet to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s Board of Directors. Councillor DeViet currently serves as a Director on the Board and is seeking re-election to the Association’s County Caucus for the 2022-2024 term.

New HVAC System at Strathmere Lodge is a go  

Council approved a contract for a new HVAC System at Strathmere Lodge. The project, fully funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), will be undertaken by Linde Mechanical and is set to be completed by the end of the year.

County hears from over 500 people during the update of its Official Plan

Council thanked the more than 500 residents and businesses who participated in the "Middlesex 2046" Official Plan community engagement campaign. Participants provided their views on land use issues related to agriculture, natural heritage, the economy, development, and housing. This feedback will be used to update the County Official Plan, anticipated in late spring. Conditional approval recommended for plan to bring over 150 new homes to Thorndale 

The Committee of the Whole considered a proposed residential plan of subdivision for an 18 hectare (44 acre) property within Thorndale. The development, which was recently supported by the Municipality of Thames Centre, would create 102 lots for single-detached dwellings, six blocks for 12 semi-detached dwellings and three blocks for approximately 37 street townhouses. Following submissions from the applicant and local residents, the Committee adopted a recommendation to approve the draft plan of subdivision, subject to conditions. Committee endorses Disconnecting from Work policy for County employees

The Committee of the Whole considered and approved a disconnecting from work policy that will support the overall health and wellness of County employees. The new policy, which received unanimous support from County Council, recognizes that work-related pressures and the inability to disconnect from work can lead to stress and deterioration of mental health and overall well-being. By encouraging employees to disconnect from work outside their normal work hours, the policy promotes work-life balance for all County employees.

Adoption of Committee of the Whole Recommendations from April 26, 2022

County Council adopted all recommendations made by the Committee of the Whole at its meeting on April 26, 2022.

Recommendations made by the Committee of the Whole at the May 10, 2022 meeting will be considered by County Council at its next regular meeting on May 24, 2022. The Legislative Services Department maintains the official record for all County government proceedings.
