FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Middlesex Municipal Day 2024 hosted by Lucan Biddulph
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, May 7, 2024 – the Township of Lucan Biddulph hosted the 75th annual 2024 Middlesex Municipal Day at the Lucan Biddulph Community Memorial Centre alongside Mayor of Lucan Biddulph, Cathy Burghardt-Jesson as the Master of Ceremony. The event was attended by over 100 delegates from the County of Middlesex, local municipalities, the Middlesex-London Paramedic Services, Middlesex-London Food Policy Council, and various community partners and businesses.
At the event, attendees gained insight from prominent local enterprises, businesses, and organizations making significant contributions in Middlesex County including Goldie Innovative Technologies, Community Employment Choices, Crunican Orchards & Generations Cider Co., Arvaspring Farms Ltd., Z Modular Group, and the Middlesex-London Food Policy Council. Some of these entities span generations in the County, while others became newly established members of the community both ready to leave unique legacies in the areas of cutting-edge technologies, agriculture, food security, sustainability, and workforce support. The entrepreneurial spirit and advocacy for improving the lives of those in the region from these groups continue to positively shape the County’s future.
The meeting closed with a State of the Union address from Middlesex County Warden Aina DeViet who spoke on the theme of transformation and responsiveness in the County and highlighted new initiatives and achievements from its service areas including but not limited to Middlesex County Connect, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, Social Services, Libraries, Early-On, Information Technologies, and more. The Warden also emphasized change as the theme that resonates across the County, especially its population and demographic shift.
Despite increasing complexities and evolving challenges the County faces, the Warden brought attention to the 2024 Middlesex County Budget, which reflects a commitment to making appropriate investments in infrastructure and core services. With change comes opportunities that allow each municipality to learn, re-think, adapt, leverage technologies, and move on to new ways of working and delivering essential services. The Warden underscored a culture of responsiveness and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the County’s constituents while preserving financial sustainability. Amidst the challenges and transforming landscape of the County (both physically and metaphorically), Warden DeViet ended the address with a profound sense of gratitude not only for the County’s past accomplishments but also for the shared commitment of the delegates to propel the region forward and continue enhancing the lives of its residents.

So let’s roll up our sleeves and continue the path forward!”
