Middlesex County Warden’s Statement on the Third Anniversary of the Afzaal Family Death

MIDDLESEX COUNTY: On June 6, 2024, Warden Aina DeViet issued the following statement on behalf of County Council and residents of Middlesex County communities regarding the third anniversary of the deaths of the Afzaal family, who were killed in a hit-and-run crash while taking a Sunday evening walk in northwest London.

"As we remember the tragic loss of the Afzaal Family today, we join our neighbours in London to honour their lives. This senseless act of violence has left a deep impact on us all. We stand with the Muslim community and everyone in London who continues to feel the weight of this tragedy. Today is about remembering the unimaginable loss but also about healing together. We are committed to creating an inclusive, accepting, and safe community for all. Middlesex County firmly opposes hatred, discrimination, and violence, and we are dedicated to promoting understanding, respect, and compassion in our diverse communities."
