FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Middlesex County Proud Recipient of Rainbow Registered Accreditation
MIDDLESEX COUNTY on December 12, 2023: Middlesex County is taking historic steps towards fostering inclusivity and embracing diversity as it proudly announced acquiring Rainbow Registered Accreditation during the December 12 Council Meeting. This accreditation, granted by Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), marks the County as a nationally accredited 2SLGBTQI+ friendly organization. Being Rainbow Registered means that Middlesex County has not only met but will continue to aim for excellence in the standards set forth by CGLCC.
CGLCC plays a crucial role in linking LGBT+ businesses in Canada to the broader business community. Their mission is to unite people and highlight the right resources in hopes of a more inclusive Canadian economy. Through partnership and funding assistance, the CGLCC developed the Rainbow Registered program, specifically designed to recognize businesses and organizations receptive to LGBT+ customers. Accreditation demonstrates commitment and consistent effort in providing customer satisfaction through progressive policies and practices.
Businesses and community organizations awarded Rainbow Registered accreditation benefit from the independent recognition of their efforts. Not only does the County join a welcoming network of 2SLGBTQI+ firms, but will gain access to exclusive thought leadership content, be listed on the national member directory, and enjoy unlimited access to all CGLCC networking events.
Cathy Burghardt-Jesson, the previous Warden for Middlesex County, expressed excitement about this achievement, stating, “This designation serves as a symbol of our commitment to equality and our collective efforts to foster a community where everyone can thrive, regardless of their backgrounds.”
Middlesex County looks forward to fully embracing this accreditation and taking the necessary steps to continually create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and celebrated. The Department of Economic Development and Tourism encourages tourism operators and other community organizations to become registered to enhance the promotion of the County as a safe and welcoming destination for tourists.
