FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Middlesex County honours Community Emergency Response Volunteers (CERV)
MIDDLESEX COUNTY - On May 9, 2023, Warden Cathy Burghardt-Jesson, Community Emergency Management Coordinator, Bettina Weber, and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer & County Engineer, Chris Traini distributed certificates of appreciation to more than 20 CERV members in attendance at the Middlesex County Administration Building. With this week being Emergency Preparedness Week, it comes at no better time to honour and celebrate the long-term service of these exceptional individuals who have devoted their time and energy to making Middlesex County a safer place for all.
Since its inception in 2007, CERV Middlesex has made a significant impact on the safety and security of our communities in the County. These members have worked tirelessly during H1N1 Flu Outbreak in 2009, and provided assistance at numerous community events, including the visit of the Stanley Cup to Strathroy, Olympic medalists Scott & Tessa’s Homecoming in Ilderton, and Lucan’s celebration for Hockeyville. Most recently, their service was invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing support and a welcoming presence at vaccination clinics throughout the County. With comprehensive training in emergency and disaster response, first aid, and reception centre operations, our volunteers are well-prepared to assist their fellow citizens when disaster strikes.
Middlesex County is now recruiting CERV members for 2023 and if you are interested, go to our website at https://www.middlesex.ca/departments/emergency-services/emergency-management.
