Committee hears results from County’s Attainable Housing Review
Through extensive engagement with various community stakeholders, the County’s Attainable Housing Review has identified the lack of affordable housing, the lack of options for seniors and young families and the need for greater diversity in the supply of housing as among the County’s most pressing housing issues. Opportunities to strengthen and modernize land use planning policies to communicate objectives related to affordable and attainable housing were also identified as important. Other recommendations include examining the introduction of incentives and funding for affordable housing through local municipal Community Improvement Plans. To stay up-to-date and learn how you can get involved, see the Middlesex County Attainable Housing Review.
Community engagement in County’s LLD Moth Monitoring program exceeds expectations
The Committee of the Whole received an update on the County’s 2022 LLD / Spongy Moth Monitoring Program. The goal of this initiative was to help residents, County staff and their partners at the CFIA, to better understand the geographic distribution, population dynamics, and trends of LLD Moths. The initiative began in June 2022 with the distribution of pheromone moth traps to resident volunteers across the County. Specimens were counted and collected in July and September 2022 and a selection of specimens were sent to the CFIA for further analysis. County staff expressed thanks to all residents who participated in this initiative. Community engagement far exceeded expectations. Check out the Middlesex County website for more information on this initiative and other Weeds and Pests in Middlesex County.
