Adoption of the 2025 Middlesex County Budget
County Council passed by-law #7322 to adopt the 2025 Middlesex County Budget. The 2025 Budget builds on the previous year’s foundation of fiscal accountability, reaffirming the County’s commitment to investing in and enhancing core services that are vital to our community, while recognizing the growing financial pressures on taxpayers due to provincial and federal policy decisions and geopolitical challenges. With a tax rate increase of 4.1%, Middlesex County is making strategic investments across several areas to improve services and support positive community outcomes. Trails, Timber, and Conservation: Middlesex County Forestry Update
The Committee of the Whole received a County Forestry Services update, highlighting project developments in forest management. Staff reported on increased public use of County forests, maintenance improvements, and the installation of new signage with QR codes linking to interactive trail maps for public use. The update also included ongoing research initiatives, such as ecological studies and invasive pest monitoring, aimed at maintaining forest health and sustainability. Additionally, staff provided an update on the Woodlands Conservation By-law, emphasizing continued enforcement and compliance efforts, ensuring that all initiatives align with the County’s long-term environmental goals. MLPS Innovation Agenda Emphasizes Service Efficiency and Growth
The Committee of the Whole received a report from Middlesex-London Paramedic Service (MLPS) on their Innovation Agenda. The Innovation Agenda outlines a range of ongoing and planned initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery, improving operational efficiency, and supporting staff development. Key initiatives include the continuation of the Community Paramedicine Long Term Care Plus Program (CPLTC+), modernization of fleet and facilities, upgrades to mapping systems and patient care technology, and resiliency training for staff. Middlesex County Introduces 2025 Asset Management Plan to Support Sustainable Infrastructure
Staff provided a comprehensive overview of the 2025 Middlesex County Asset Management Plan, outlining current asset conditions, lifecycle management strategies, and projected investment needs. The Asset Management Plan incorporates financial strategies to maintain service levels and introduces dashboards to support real-time asset monitoring and data-driven decision-making, ensuring sustainable infrastructure management aligned with the County’s strategic priorities. The Committee of the Whole approved the recommendation to introduce a by-law to adopt the 2025 Middlesex County Asset Management Plan at the April 8, 2025 meeting.
